Welcome Back Style Kat,
It is homecoming week at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) and let me just say, the slay is real. At my beloved Historically Black College and University (HBCU), we take homecoming quite seriously. Although I don’t go out much, I wanted to show up and show out at Chillmatic. Chillmatic is an upscale party, hosted annually by The Beta Nu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
FAMU festivities are not about to rob me of all coins, okay? I didn’t want to spend a bunch of money on clothes, but we FAMU students typically buy new outfits for every event during hoco week because we are that extra.
I found this amazingly shimmery jumpsuit from Allure Essentials that was within my price range. I didn’t find my outfit until the week before Chillmatic and by the grace of God it was delivered to me within a short timeframe. I stan reliable shipping.
My hairstylist always comes through for the queen. Merlande Petit-Homme, owner of Platinum Hair by Merlande and 2015 Bronner Bros hair show winner, has a pop-up shop in Tallahassee once a month. She had a slot open for the day of Chillmatic and I made my appointment with the swiftness. She has been doing my hair for years now and I couldn’t imagine anyone else slaying my sew-in!
The ladies who attended the party looked amazing! I saw so many pretty girls, I stopped each of them just to let them know that they looked gorgeous. The fellas were looking pretty sharp too.
So, what’d you think of my look this year? I usually attend Nite Kap each fall semester, but I missed that party.
